DATAFIN RECRUITMENT:Head of Logistics Opportunity
Environment:
An online retail company in Cape Town is looking for a logistics manager with a tertiary degree, four+ years experience, preferably in logistics, warehousing or operations and retail background and online knowledge highly advantageous.
Duties:
- Lead the logistics team in daily activities, problem solving, liaising with departments and ensuring each purchase order arrives as scheduled to our warehouse.
- Manage our warehouse team, warehousing partners in Johannesburg, by working closely with the company’s warehouse operations coordinator.
- Frequent communication with key staff including; warehouse manager, operations director and financial controller.
- Play a key role in the product cataloging process with the production and studio manager ensuring timeous delivery of product to our studio.
- Monitor late and delayed shipments to manage customer expectations with our customer services team.
- Liaise with our customer services team on a daily basis regarding customer queries and problems.
- Manage inbound-logistics, freight provider relationships, import processes and international consolidation.
- Drive key department projects and initiate necessary changes in processes and systems.
- Align the company’s logistics and warehousing systems to ensuring we are capable of scale to meet budgeted targets.
- Further develop reports on key performance indicators (KPI’s) within the department for staff and management to gain insight into their work.
- Post month analysis presentation to directors on Logistics and Warehouse KPI’s with benchmarks ensuring they are aligned to the wider group.
- Facilitate training and professional development for the team, including work reviews and training sessions.
- Strategise and implement ways to improve the logistics and warehousing division by implementing out-of-the-box as well as best practice ideas/processes with a focus on operational excellence.
- Work closely with, and report to, the COO in improving operational efficiency of the business.
Requirements:
- Tertiary degree.
- Four+ years experience, preferably in logistics, warehousing or operations.
- Retail background and online knowledge highly advantageous.
- Established relationships within logistics industry advantageous.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail orientated, analytic and mathematically confident.
- Process driven, responsible and reliable.
- Proven ability to lead people, handle multiple concurrent tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Efficient and proactive character.
- Excellent communication and problem solving skill.
- Local travel required occasionally.
