MUSIC IN AFRICA FOUNDATION:Bookkeeper/Accounting Opportunity

The Music In Africa Foundation is a non-profit organisation within the music sector that manages an online portal for various stakeholders within the music industry across Africa. The Foundation is undergoing a transformation, from being an incubated organisation to becoming independent. Due to an increase in activity, Music in Africa is seeking to outsource its accountancy requirements. The successful firm (or candidate) will be responsible for all of the accounting requirements of the Foundation, as stipulated below:
Key responsibilities will include
- Managing bank and General Ledgers
- Working closely with the director to prepare monthly and year-end financial statements, and detailed supporting analyses for the financial controlling of the foundation
- Balancing accounts/double book keeping
- Processing sales invoices and receipts
- Monitoring bank statements
- Issuing invoices to customers
- Maintaining an orderly accounting filing system (digital and analog)
- Calculating variances between actual expenditure and the budget and reporting significant issues to management
- Complying with local reporting requirements, including tax compliance and human resource regulations
- Helping to establish and implement an effective payroll system
- Meeting with management as-and-when needed
- Providing clerical and administrative support to management as required
Requirements
- Minimum five years’ experience
- Relevant degree (for individuals)
- Registration with relevant legislative bodies
- Highly proficient with Excel, MS Office, Sage Pastel and other relevant accounting programs
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent team player
- Must be extremely organised, confident and be able to work remotely
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Knowledge of legislative financial guidelines for NPOs in South Africa
- Based in Johannesburg
