Your main responsibilities:
– To ensure that the company’s revenues from the travel trade are maximised through efficient and professional responses of the reservations team to all booking enquiries.
– Proactive pursuit of new booking opportunities.
– Implementation of seamless systems and effective and innovative yield management.
Your responsibilities:
– Devise and deliver on a business plan aimed at maximising the company’s positive relationships with, and the revenue stream from the different components of the Travel Trade (tour operators, travel agents).
– Develop, implement and manage the system and general standard operating procedures relative to the reservations department, to ensure:
a) seamless and consistent service is provided to relevant members of the Travel Trade, and that their clients (company’s guests) receive a seamless brand experience at the lodges; and that
b) work flow is managed in a way that maximises productivity of each member of the
Reservations team.
– Develop and mentor a team of intuitive, efficient and exceptional staff who are fully aligned to the brand; conduct exceptional relationships with members of the trade and maximize the number and extent of the company’s bookings, and repeat bookings.
– Deal with any challenging situations and/or complaints relative to the service provided by the reservations team, and elevated beyond their realm of responsibility.
– Work in a fully integrated way with the other S&M departments, company support divisions and the lodges to ensure maximised productivity of the reservations team and a seamless experience for each guest.
– Monitor on an on-going basis and report monthly on the department’s financials and other key measurements, and keep the S&M director fully informed. Key to this is ensuring the number of nights and revenue per booking at the company’s lodges are optimized.
– Management of rates – participate in the determination of rate increases and manage the process of updating rate contracts and ensuring that new contracts are loaded in SM and that all res consultants are trained in understanding and communicating changes. Manage the development and dissemination of collateral used by the reservations team in all correspondence and bookings.
Requirements
Your skills and experience:
– Have experience working under and working closely with a sales and marketing manager.
– Service driven and committed to ensuring guest’s expectations are met and lives enhanced.
– Knowledge and experience of the travel and safari industry (advantageous)
– Relationships with those involved in the travel industry (advantageous)
– Maturity and sophistication.
– People management skills – including emotional intelligence.
– Organisational abilities.
– Financial measurement and reporting abilities.
