Job description
Preparing internal communication strategies and plans (in consultation with the head of communications and Marketing, which will build engagement and motivation, and ensure all staff have access to a range of internal communications, so they are able to keep up to date with important news, share information and provide feedback.
Developing and implementing further internal comms plans to support organisational initiatives and business projects, to ensure they are successfully communicated around the organisation.
Reviewing, on an on-going basis, staff’s views on communications, and the effectiveness of our existing communications channels, ensuring that they support regular and effective two-way communications, and suggesting and implementing improvements.
Supporting the successful management of change, working with the Head of Communications to advise senior management on change communications and preparing and implementing communication strategies accordingly.
Providing advice to teams and individuals as to how they can more effectively exchange information, to combat silo working.
Managing and developing company communications channels (including intranet, corporate team briefs, social networking, e-bulletins, cascades and face-to-face communications) to ensure that the company has an effective suite of channels with which it can reach and engage all staff, for a range of organisational purposes and types of communication.
Editing and proofreading items supplied by others to ensure a high standard of communications.
Overseeing the organising of events for staff and other stakeholder audiences as required.
Overseeing the publication of newsletters and other items, and ensure they are distributed in a timely manner, to a high quality and in accessible formats.
Managing the workload of Specialists, ensuring that they have a clear set of responsibilities and programme of work which is delivered to high standards.
Acting as adviser to HR for internal communications requirements specifically where related to engagement.
Overseeing company Forums, ensuring appropriate content is posted, forums created and discussion groups are effective.
Taking an active approach to keep informed on new developments and best practice in internal communications and engagement, so as to suggest fresh approaches and improvements to the organisation on a continuing basis.
As a member of the communications and marketing team, take an active part in all team initiatives, and help develop and implement plans to improve the team’s effectiveness and company communications.
Requirements
A Degree in PR, Marketing or Communications
Five to ten years relevant experience
Proven management experience
Advantageous
You’ll have a flair for writing and editing to high standards.
Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and presentation skills are required. You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Quick to learn about the business and its functions.
Personal Skills/Attributes
A successful communicator, you’ll be able to provide support and guidance to a dispersed organisation on effective communications.
You’ll have a flair for writing and editing to high standards.
