Job description
We require an assistant finance manager to assist the finance manager with accounting functions (planning, budgeting, controlling and monitoring) and to provide an administrative support service to the finance manager in relation to financial processes and practices coordinated within the Department of Student Affairs (DSA).
Requirements:
- An appropriate accounting qualification (B.Com or equivalent B-degree accounting or management accounting qualification) and with a minimum of three years’ experience with exposure to various aspects of finance and management accounting; or equivalent experience, equating to at least seven years’ experience with similar/same responsibilities as sought for this position;
- Computer literacy skills in MS Word and Excel (essential) and email.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise work appropriately, work under pressure and to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work methodically, efficiently and meticulously;
- A commitment to the provision of excellent client service in a cross-cultural environment.
The following would be advantageous:
- A working knowledge of SAP, or a similar large ERP system;
- Articles experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing the annual departmental budgets; capturing of the budget into SAP and reporting on monthly budget variances;
- Prepare and distribute internal reports and interpret the financial data for the purposes of financial control, monitoring the results and assisting the DSA line managers in exercising budgetary controls;
- Day to day financial administration support to departmental administrators;
- Communicate financial policies and procedures to department’s staff and to provide training on policies and procedures where necessary;
- Assist with internal financial controls and risk management
The annual cost of employment for 2015, including benefits, is between R292,819 and R344,458
