QUIRK:IT Systems Administrator OPPORTUNITY

Want to flex your IT skills in an industry that does interesting things and allows you to be yourself? Our small and efficient IT team are looking for a systems administrator who is the right mix of quirky and reliable, to help manage the efficient operations, stability and integrity of the systems that support our core functions.
This would include:
- Monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimising all networked software and associated operating systems
- Applying a systematic and analytical approach to identify, communicate and resolve issues, and maximise the investments made in IT infrastructure
- Working with the team to make sure software operations are and reliable, as well as redundant
- Researching on software, systems and products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing motivations in line with best practice
- Establishing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems: developing and implementing strategies for improving or replacing systems
- Creating and maintaining documentation; reflecting systems configuration and changes and completing RFI’s.
- Adopting consolidation strategies: integrating and/or consolidating systems to reduce complexity and costs
- Performing full support for business critical systems and providing technical guidance to employee clients
- Giving general assistance and support to the group IT manager, including managing the team when needed
We’re looking for someone with the relevant IT qualification or certifications, at least five years’ experience in a Linux server and networking environment, with a great overall knowledge of hardware and software, applications and operating systems, data communication and infrastructure.
Experience with scripting, VOIP and a strong background/interest in infrastructure design would be great, as would experience with some or all of the following: IPTables, MySQL, MongoDB, Apache, Nginx, monitoring (Zenoss, Nagios), samba, Mikrotik, Cisco, Chef, Puppet, any form of IaaS.
