Spatial planning and environment – urban planning and design

Manager: metro spatial planning and growth management

Tcoe salary commencing from R1,327,510 to R1,749,498 per annum – ref no: SPE 21/22 – Civic Centre, Cape Town

Requirements:

  • Professional degree in Town Planning/ City and Regional Planning or equivalent qualification
  • Ten (10) years’ relevant experience
  • Extensive managerial experience
  • Experience within local government will be advantageous
  • Valid Code B drivers licence.

Key performance areas:

  • Oversee the preparation of metropolitan spatial development frameworks, policies, strategies and guidelines to guide future growth and development of the City and comply with statutory requirements
  • Ensure alignment between metropolitan plans with regional, district, local and sector-based plans and overseeing specialist metropolitan spatial planning inputs
  • Provide input and monitor the spatial alignment of capital budgets;
  • Ensure the development of various digital tools and datasets to monitor the city’s growth trends and enable evidence-based decision making and policy and strategy development
  • Provide critical leadership and input into the City’s Integrated Development, growth management and sector plans.
  • Contribute to the streamlining of land identification, packaging and the roll out for integrated human settlements
  • Internal and external stakeholder management: to ensure integration of plans and stakeholder buy-in for plans, strategies, policies, guidelines and mechanisms
  • Lead, direct and manage staff within the branch so that they can meet the Council, Service and Directorate objectives and that a high level of performance is maintained.
