The incumbent will report to the PCR manager.Job purposeThe lighting and hippo operator oversees the overall lighting of the set, camera balancing, picture quality and the functionality of HippoKey responsibilities:Lighting:Overall responsibility for lighting on setEnsures that all lights and bulbs are operationalExecute lighting effects as requested by the DirectorInterpret the Lighting Designer’s plan.Manage the lighting operation during productions.Plan and set up lighting arrangements for live or recorded productions.Programme lighting controls to meet the needs of the productions.Conduct regular maintenance to ensure the lighting equipment and system are in working condition.Hippo:Responsible for routing and loading imaging onto the LED Screen on setPrepare and load show ident graphics as requiredLoad special feature panoramic elements and ensure they are all according to broadcast specificationsEnsures all layers can take different sourcesRequirementsMatric plus a relevant certificate/diploma/degree in a field related to lighting.A minimum of 2 years of experience in a lighting operator role.Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.Must be an effective learner, with a curiosity and desire to learn and understand the entire scope of needs in the studio and control room.Able to make quick decisions and give accurate instructions during live broadcasts.Possess strong fundamental understanding of video and audio production equipment and capabilitiesAbility to follow instructions and remain professional under pressure in a live environmentExcellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Troubleshooting and diagnostic skillsGood multi-tasking skills.Excellent computer skillsWillingness to work varied shiftsCompany DescriptionNewzroom Afrika is a premier South African 24-hour TV news channel broadcasting in Southern Africa, East and West Africa.Posted on 08 Apr 12:34, Closing date 20 Apr
