WEYLANDTS :Interior Designer – Projects OPPORTUNITY

This role is responsible for assisting with the design or renovation of spaces to meet the needs and requirements of Weylandts clients. This person will perform professional and technical work involving the efficient design of interiors to encourage maximum space utilisation, which includes planning, designing, and drafting of detailed specifications by the client. This person will work closely within the visual merchandising team and report to the visual merchandising manager.
Scope of job: This position is based in Cape Town at Head office and there will be limited travel nationally.
Main accountabilities:
• Undertake design project from concept to completion
• Define project requirements and schedule during the “brief”
• Interpret and translate customer needs into rough plans
• prepare presentation graphics, including visual/graphic materials and 3D rendering
• Estimate material requirements and costs, and present design to client for approval.
• Advise client on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and utilisation of furnishings and equipment, and colour coordination.
• Advise on furnishings, art works, and accessories from Weylandts stores
• Subcontract fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items.
• Perform site and field work, including site -measured documentation, existing facility and furniture inventories and site investigations.
• Determine clients’ space requirements
• Manage and ensure work progress is according to schedule
• identifying new business and selling services to potential clients;
• keeping up to date with new developments in the design industry

Requirements
Functional competencies:
A diploma in Interior Design is prerequisite as well as excellent technical knowledge of design software e.g. AutoCad, SketchUp (or similar 3D software) as well as Photoshop.
Minimum five years of relevant experience in interior design firm, architectural firm or architectural department of large company with in-house facilities management to include all phases of interior design, including drafting, detailing, scheduling, and assisting with the coordination of consultants. He or she will demonstrate a passion for interior décor and design; will be creative and passionate about the Weylandts brand, eager to use their skills to maximise the brand look and sales potential. A keen interest in keeping up to date with new developments in the design industry is essential. Comprehensive Microsoft office skills are required. This role will require a driver’s licence.
