Job description
CORE FUNCTION: The determination of motor vehicle mechanical damages, the repair cost, the approximate cause of the damage and the application of policy limits using product knowledge, experience of motor vehicle mechanical repairs, parts prices, and manufacturer’ requirements.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE
- Grade 12 or equivalent academic level.
- Knowledge of:
- Motor vehicle electrical systems
- Motor vehicle mechanical systems and components.
IT KNOWLEDGE
- Proficient with the use of a computer inlcuding keyboard and mouse functions
- Able to assimilate and use IT applications e.g. Audatex
- Intermediate level in the use of MS Outlook
- Intermediate level in the use of Word and Excel
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Peruse photographs, quotations, and other relevant documentation with regard to damaged vehicle.
- Form opinion on correlation between damages on vehicle in relation to description of insured event.
- Exclude costs for any damage not reasonably caused by insured event.
- Identify vehicle warranty status.
- Determine probable state of roadworthiness and service history of vehicle at time of insured event.
- Apply policy limits to identified mechanical failures.
- Complete assessors report with above details
