Job description
Establishing contributing and continually improving the procurement process cost effectively through an on-line integrated procurement process and ensuring the correct and most economical method of shipping is used. Through feedback processed measures effectiveness of operation customer feedback, out of stock situation, inventory purchase levels and timeous receipt of stock. Ensuring our stock level is in line with company strategy and in conjunction with sales levels. Establish and maintain vendor databases for approved sources of equipment and services. Keeps back order file in established sequence and releases back orders for issue or shipment as stock becomes available. Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items. Participates in supplier negotiations and develops supplier relationships. Negotiate with suppliers for the lowest prices, best quality product and best service. Ensures administrative systems are effective and maintained continually. Analysing and initiating change to the work unit, policies, procedures and practices. Supervises staff members to provide direction and feedback and ensure assigned procurement projects and tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines. Gathers and summarises data to provide accurate information for reports, correspondence and proposals. Prepare and distribute written communication to inform relevant departments of revision on products, pricing and availability of stock. Prepare and coordinate the preparation of reports and analyses stock movements, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Plans and conducts meetings with subordinates to ensure compliance with established practices, implement new policies and keep employees abreast of current changes and standards. Analyses stock and movement and recommends remedial actions for reported non saleable, slow moving and excess stock.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration an advantage
Proven working experience as procurement supervisor
Familiar with sourcing and vendor management
Negotiation and networking skills
Must be computer literate.
Knowledge of Syspro and Optimizer a must
Solid judgement along with decision making skills
Ability to gather and analyse data and work with figures
Strong leadership capabilities
