Department of Higher Education and Training 2025/2027 Graduate Internship and Work Integrated Learning Programme

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) invites qualifying South African graduates to apply for its Graduate Internship and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme for the 2025/2026 to 2026/2027 financial years. This programme aims to provide unemployed graduates and WIL students with practical work experience in their fields of study.

Programme Purpose
The Internship and WIL Programme offers graduates exposure to real-world work environments aligned with their academic backgrounds. This initiative supports skills development and enhances employability in the public service sector.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • South African citizens
  • Unemployed in the public service
  • Must not have participated in any previous internship programme within the public service
  • Hold the required academic qualifications relevant to the field of study
  • Should not have served as a graduate intern or contract worker in the public sector before

Applicants with foreign qualifications must have their credentials evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Application Process
Candidates must complete a new Z83 application form, which is available on any Public Service Department website. Along with the form, applicants must submit a comprehensive CV. Applications must clearly state the field of study for the internship.

Applicants applying for multiple fields must submit separate Z83 forms and CVs for each field.

Important Notes

  • Applications must include all required documents by the closing date. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  • The closing date is 29 August 2025 at 15:00.
  • Late or emailed applications after the deadline will be rejected.
  • Due to expected high volumes, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  • Verification of qualifications, experience, citizenship, references, and security vetting will be conducted.
