Position Purpose
Transnet’s YPIT initiative offers an intensive 24-month training programme that prepares young professionals for the dynamic world of heritage, art, and history within a corporate setting. Participants will receive guidance and mentorship while acquiring real-world skills applicable to heritage management and public sector operations.
Key Responsibilities
Young Professionals-in-Training will be expected to:
- Execute tasks aligned with departmental goals and training schedules
- Shadow senior staff and actively participate in meetings, workshops, and learning experiences
- Assist with administrative, research, and project support activities
- Serve as the liaison for supplier and end-user inquiries
- Learn procurement-related procedures and customer service communication
- Provide feedback and maintain progress reports on assigned responsibilities
Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Degree or National Diploma in Heritage Studies, Fine Art, History, Curatorship, Visual Studies, or a related Humanities discipline
- Have 0–1 year of working experience
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Be under the age of 35 (preference given to South African youth)
