Head of Social Media Opportunity

One of SA’s fastest growing digital agencies is looking for a head of social media to lead our social team in developing innovative highly effective campaigns and content for our clients social media communities. As the head of social, you’ll set the standard in our social media offering, ensuring innovative strategic and creative thinking is applied to all our social work.
You’ll be responsible for researching and staying on top of trends and innovations in the social space and will inspire the social team and the agency as a whole.
Strategic thinking, technical understanding of what’s possible in social as well as and a passion for insights and trends is key – as is being a communication visionary and true thought leader in the social space.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary lead on social media within the agency, managing the social media team to ensure all deliverables and KPI’s are met
- Oversee, review and approve social media team’s creation of content plans to ensure the creation of compelling content that maximises engagement across all of our client social media communities
- Work with clients to define business and brand’s social media objectives and kpi’s
- Develop social media strategies based on consumer insights, trend analysis and client objectives
- Drive Social Media innovation by researching and staying on top of trends, technologies and innovations in the social space and provide strategic guidance across all social channels
- Understand key trends that drive consumer behavior in the social space, living at the intersection of brands, culture and creativity
- Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of social media campaigns with recommendations on how to maximize them
- Distill data and research into social media strategies and presentations which include competitive data, emerging trends and opportunities, and industry and consumer insights
- Produce proposals and supporting documents to communicate social media strategy and insights, participating in pitches as well as contracted projects
- Manage, mentor and lead social media team to continually meet client deliverables and ensure agency processes are adhered too

Requirements
- Minimum of six years focused on social media two+ years of experience directly managing and growing a team
- Able to build compelling strategic stories from a variety of inputs and information, and work across disciplines with traditional marketing and digital teams
- Expert user on social platforms with keen awareness of all the popular social media channels, when and how brands use them to their potential
- Consistently taking a pulse on new trends, platforms and best practices
- Strong expertise with social media measurement tools and metrics, knowing how to use paid amplification
- Proven experience managing paid social budgets in an efficient manner on major platforms
- Proficient strategic and analytical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data using established analytic/reporting tools
- Solid understanding of how influencers, communities, native advertising and user generated content play roles in brand campaigns
- Excellent communicator; written, verbal and presentation skills a must
- Deep interest and understanding of the creative process
- Entrepreneurial DNA and drive
- Collaborative and team oriented
- Excellent attention to detail, excellent written and verbal skills are imperative.
- Have strong organizational skills, being able to manage multiple projects at once
- Experience negotiating with outside vendors, including negotiating contracts, resolving issues, and reconciling differences
