Casual Merchandiser Vacancy at Jean Avenue Dis-Chem Pharmacies
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is hiring Casual Merchandisers for their Jean Avenue store in Centurion, Gauteng. This is a part-time, entry-level position. The closing date for applications is 13 August 2025.
About the Role
The role supports Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards and ensures excellent customer service. You will help keep shelves stocked, neat, and correctly labeled to drive sales and improve the shopping experience.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric
- Up to 6 months retail experience
- Computer literate, especially in MS Office
- Willingness to work retail hours
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year retail experience
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise promptly to maximize sales
- Store and pack stock efficiently after delivery
- Monitor shelf life and rotate stock using FIFO methods
- Report low, damaged, or expired stock to management
- Assist with stocktaking and maintain store layout and planograms
- Flatten boxes and maintain cleanliness in store and storeroom
- Build and maintain merchandising displays
- Provide friendly, helpful customer service
- Follow up on out-of-stock customer queries
- Wear the correct uniform and adhere to company policies
- Handle merchandise carefully to reduce losses
- Support new staff training and assist with stock loading
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong command of English
- Presentable and trustworthy
- Good time management and communication skills
- Ability to engage with customers and staff effectively
Preferred Skills
- Bilingualism
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
- Ability to analyze ordering and stock reports
- Ability to report suspicious behavior
Special Conditions
- Must be physically fit to lift heavy boxes
- Reliable transport or live near the store
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
