Dis-Chem is Hiring a Casual Merchandiser at Market Square, Plettenberg Bay

Position Purpose
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for their Market Square store in Plettenberg Bay. The role ensures that merchandising standards are executed and maintained while providing excellent customer service. This position is ideal for individuals starting their retail career and looking to gain practical experience in store operations and merchandising.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to maximize sales and maintain stock availability.
• Ensure delivered stock or items pulled from the storeroom are stored and packed correctly.
• Monitor shelf stock for sell-by dates and rotate stock on a FIFO (First In, First Out) basis.
• Maintain full product range on shelves at all times.
• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired products to management.
• Assist with stocktaking and counting of stock files.
• Follow Dis-Chem operating standards, store layouts, and planograms.
• Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and place them in the designated area.
• Keep front shop shelves neat, correctly priced, and clearly labeled.
• Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays.
• Maintain daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays.
• Assist with loading and off-loading stock and back shopping.
• Clearly mark items without barcodes.
• Support training of new staff members.
• Provide friendly and helpful assistance to all customers, resolving stock queries efficiently.
• Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses.
• Adhere to all Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety rules.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Up to 6 months’ retail experience.
• Computer literate in MS Office.
• Willing and able to work retail hours.

Advantageous Skills

• At least 1 year of retail experience.
• Bilingual abilities.
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry.
• Product and category knowledge.
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stock management.
