The Gauteng Department of Education is inviting applications for temporary positions to support the 2025 examinations. A total of 294 Examination Assistants and 951 Quality Assurers are required across the province. Applications close on 29 August 2025.

Job Description
Examination Assistants
- Receive, check, control, and scan scripts daily
- Pack scripts for marking and ensure the correct number per batch, subject, paper, and examination session
- Address discrepancies in scripts or marksheets
- Create marking centre files for dispatch
- Assist with dispatching scripts to marking venues
- Index and archive scripts after marking
- Ensure correct marking totals and accurate transfer to marksheets
Quality Assurers
- Control and distribute scripts to marking teams
- Ensure correct number of scripts and marksheets during marking
- Verify all questions are marked and marks recorded correctly
- Resolve discrepancies and apply necessary amendments
- Reconcile and arrange scripts numerically for archival after marking
Requirements
- Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate / NSC Vocational
- Tertiary students, unemployed persons with tertiary qualifications, or unemployed graduates may apply
- Numerical skills with Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy at Grade 12 level
- Experience as an Examination Assistant or Quality Assurer is an advantage
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure
- Persons writing NSC/Senior Certificate/AET exams in 2025 or employed elsewhere are not eligible
