Role Overview
The Blockman will work with all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw. Key tasks include preparing and deboning meat, producing mince, sausage, and boerewors, and managing stock according to company standards.
Duties also include:
- Preventing wastage and shrinkage
- Monitoring cold chain temperatures
- Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness
- Assisting with receiving meat and training staff on new product lines
You must also report defective equipment to the Butchery Manager and follow occupational health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Strong communication and listening skills
- A customer-first mindset
- Physical ability to lift carcasses and containers
- Ability to work in a cold environment
- Proven experience with meat cutting, including chops and roasts (skill will be tested)
- Passion for the product and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
