Role Overview
The Service Area Assistant Deli is responsible for ensuring that all deli meals are prepared, displayed, and served according to recipe and quantity specifications. The role emphasizes hygiene, safe working practices, and customer service excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Displaying and serving meals according to set standards
- Processing customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Preventing wastage, shrinkage, and damages
- Checking pricing, quality, rotating stock, and removing expired products
- Operating and cleaning equipment according to standards
- Maintaining hygiene, housekeeping, and safety in both customer and back-up areas
- Following security procedures
- Advising customers on products, listening to requests, and delivering courteous service
- Promoting products and providing a positive customer experience
- Performing routine tasks consistently at a high standard
- Developing skills and seeking opportunities for growth
- Working flexible shifts and multi-skilling as required
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Grade 12
- 2–3 years of retail experience is an advantage
- Ability to communicate in English
- Pass required assessments and competency-based interviews
- Flexibility to be transferred between stores if needed
- Authorization for a full credit and criminal check
- Valid South African ID
- Must reside close to Pick n Pay Faerie Glen Hypermarket
