About the Role

As a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the dispensary team by managing medicine-related patient needs responsibly and professionally. Your work will involve assisting pharmacists in dispensing medication, managing stock, and providing excellent customer care aligned with regulatory standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of retail or FMCG operations
  • Experience working with Unisolv system
  • Oncology experience
  • Proficiency in a third additional language
  • Familiarity with SAP and E-Scripting systems
  • Understanding of drug, family planning, and complementary medicine

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines
  • Support the compounding, preparation, and repackaging of non-sterile medicines as per pharmacist instructions
  • Help manage stock control for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines and assist with ordering up to Schedule 6 medicines
  • Accurately interpret prescriptions and support pharmacists in preparing medications following legal and SAPC guidelines
  • Capture and verify prescription and patient details on the system
  • Provide clear instructions to patients on medication usage and answer their queries
  • Monitor stock levels, process deliveries, and conduct bi-annual stock takes
  • Ensure compliance with medical aid claim procedures and handle prescription corrections
  • Maintain patient profiles and follow up on script tracking and appointments as directed
  • Uphold health and safety standards in the dispensary environment
