Young Professional-in-Training (Internal Audit) Opportunity at Transnet Corporate Centre

Transnet Corporate Centre and Academy is offering a Young Professional-in-Training position in Internal Audit. This role targets recent graduates in Internal Auditing or Accounting who want to build a career in internal audit. The position is based in Johannesburg and reports to the Specialist: Youth Development.

Position Purpose
The programme runs for 24 months and is accredited by the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIASA). It provides structured, practical training to develop auditing skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Shadow experienced staff across departments to gain hands-on experience.
• Support audit teams by performing audit tests, documenting systems, testing controls, and preparing working papers.
• Engage with internal clients to understand their needs and provide updates.
• Represent Internal Audit in working groups and help strengthen internal controls.
• Assist in investigations by conducting preliminary reviews and preparing reports.
• Track and monitor the timely submission of Transnet Internal Audit reports to governance forums.

Qualifications and Experience

• National Diploma or BCom Degree in Internal Auditing or Accounting.
• 0 to 1 year relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• South African citizen aged between 18 and 35 years.

• Solid understanding of accounting and business processes.
• Ability to work well in teams and solve problems.
• High attention to detail.
