Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Krugersdorp is offering an internship for aspiring pharmacists. This role provides practical exposure to the pharmaceutical environment while promoting lifelong learning. The position is designed to equip learners with knowledge and skills in dispensing, compounding, and customer care.

Job Purpose
The internship focuses on providing pharmaceutical care, meeting patients’ medicine-related needs, and delivering excellent customer service. Interns will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in all major areas of pharmacy practice.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • BPharm (4-year degree)
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office

Advantageous Skills

  • Previous holiday or part-time work during degree
  • Familiarity with Unisolve and E-Scripting systems

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in dispensing Schedule 1 and 2 medicines under supervision.
  • Help with the preparation, compounding, and manufacturing of non-sterile and sterile medicines according to standard procedures.
  • Repackage and manage stock of medicines from Schedule 1 to 6.
  • Accurately interpret prescriptions and prepare medications under pharmacist supervision.
  • Provide instructions to patients on proper medicine use.
  • Capture prescription details and verify patient information in the system.
  • Advise patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop.
  • Assist in processing medical aid claims and resolving rejected scripts.
  • Maintain customer profiles and track stock levels.
  • Support scheduled stock takes and exercise stock control.
  • Ensure housekeeping, health, safety, and uniform standards are met.
