Apprentice Boilermaker Opportunity at Transnet Koedoespoort

Transnet Corporate Centre is inviting applications for an Apprentice Boilermaker at its Koedoespoort location. This apprenticeship offers a structured training program designed to prepare candidates to become competent, independent artisans in the boilermaking trade. Position Purpose
The Apprentice Boilermaker will be trained to plan, prepare, manufacture, assemble, inspect, commission, modify, and repair components and installations. The role provides hands-on experience across a variety of contexts, ensuring apprentices acquire the skills and knowledge needed to operate independently as qualified artisans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare work sites, equipment, tools, and materials for boilermaking tasks.
  • Use hand, power, and measuring tools effectively.
  • Install, assemble, fit, and connect electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Test, inspect, commission, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, assemblies, and installations.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • N2 Level Subjects: Pure Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plating & Structural Drawing, Engineering Drawing, Metal Worker’s Theory, Plater’s Theory.
  • N3-N6 Level Subjects: Pure Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plating & Structural Drawing, Engineering Drawing, Mechanotechnology.
  • NCV Level 4: First Additional Language (English), Pure Mathematics, Life Orientation, Engineering Process, Professional Engineering Practice, Applied Engineering Technology, Welding.
  • Technical Grade 12: Mechanical Technology (Welding and Metal Work), Life Orientation, Mathematics, Engineering and Graphic Design, Physical Science, Home Language, First Additional Language.

Candidates must be aged between 18 and 35 years.
