Job Purpose
The Receiving Clerk ensures that all stock deliveries are correctly received, verified, and processed in line with Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and customer requirements. The role supports smooth store operations by maintaining accurate stock records and timely processing of inventory.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately verify, scan, and capture all goods received in the store.
  • Receive warehouse goods and invoices according to company policy.
  • Return unordered or damaged goods and complete credit notes correctly.
  • Check deliveries and invoices for total accuracy, including quantities, variants, and condition.
  • Assist the Receiving Manager with warehouse claims and stock issues.
  • Maintain efficient stock flow, ensuring same-day processing and delivery to the sales floor.
  • Process supplier returns in compliance with SOPs.
  • Ensure all physical controls over the receiving area are in place and functional.
  • Keep storerooms organized and manage high-risk stock effectively.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Computer literate with sound numerical skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours.

Advantageous Experience

  • Previous experience in receiving, retail, or FMCG environments.
  • Knowledge of stock rotation systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency.

Competencies

  • Strong understanding of receiving procedures and administration.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy boxes (+20kg).

Special Conditions

  • Must have reliable transport or reside near the store.
  • Must be a South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
  • Must be physically fit to handle stock duties.
