Role Overview

The Retail Shop Assistant will support the Durban Umbilo branch in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining stock, and assisting in sales. The role requires confidence, honesty, reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with tools, machinery, and spares, providing technical guidance where needed.
  • Support merchandising, stock control, and stock-taking processes.
  • Execute branch retail procedures efficiently.
  • Promote sales and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling products.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional store environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum requirement: Senior Certificate.
  • Previous exposure to Automotive, Engineering, Tools, or Machinery environments is preferred.
  • Experience in merchandising, stock control, or retail branch procedures is advantageous.
  • Technical knowledge of DIY or hardware products is a strong benefit.

Working Hours and Benefits

  • Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
  • Saturday: 08:00 – 13:00
  • Salary is negotiable with benefits available
