Blockman Opportunity at Pick n Pay Kenilworth

Pick n Pay is seeking a full-time Blockman to join their Kenilworth store in the Western Cape. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about butchery, customer service, and maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manage butchery resources to ensure compliance with company standards, regulations, and targets.
Operate all butchery equipment safely, including the bandsaw, and report defective tools to the Butchery Manager.
Receive meat deliveries from suppliers and maintain the cold chain throughout handling and storage.
Prepare and break various meat carcasses according to specifications, including deboning, producing mince, sausage, and boerewors.
Control, merchandise, and promote stock according to company procedures while preventing wastage, shrinkage, and damages.
Train staff on new products and lines to enhance team knowledge and efficiency.
Maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene for all butchery equipment and utensils.

Requirements

Ability to work in a cold environment and handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting carcasses and containers of meat.
Strong customer service orientation and teamwork skills.
Good communication skills with the ability to listen and respond appropriately.
Passion for the product and a sense of urgency in completing tasks efficiently.
