Pharmacist Assistant PBQ Opportunity at Dis-Chem Knysna

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistant for their Knysna store. This permanent role involves providing pharmaceutical care, managing patients’ medicine-related needs, and ensuring high standards of service and compliance within the dispensary.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines or scheduled substances.
Assist with compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and SOPs.
Assist with manufacturing non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision.
Re-package medicines as required.
Distribute and control stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines.
Order medicines up to Schedule 6 as instructed by authorised personnel.
Read, prepare, label, and supply medicines following pharmacist evaluation.
Accurately capture script details and verify patient information.
Provide guidance to patients on correct medicine usage.
Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop.
Process medical aid claims and correct rejected scripts.
Maintain and merge customer profiles, noting relevant messages.
Report low or out-of-stock items and manage stock takes.
Exercise stock, cash, and asset control according to SOPs.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric
Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Experience working on Unisolv
Computer literate – MS Office
Strong numerical and communication skills in English and a second language
Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous Skills
Knowledge of Retail / FMCG operations
Third additional language
Experience with SAP and E-Scripting
Knowledge of drug, family planning, and complementary medicine
Special Conditions of Employment
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
Willingness to work in controlled room temperatures with limited space
Valid driver’s license
Clear credit and criminal records
