Blockman Opportunity at Pick n Pay Wonderpark

Pick n Pay is hiring a full-time Blockman for its Wonderpark store in Gauteng. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on butchery work, thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, and want to grow their skills in meat preparation and customer service. Key Responsibilities

• Operate all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw, safely and efficiently
• Report defective equipment or utensils to the Butchery Manager
• Control, merchandise, and promote stock according to company standards
• Prepare and break various meat carcasses according to specifications
• De-bone meat cuts and manufacture mince, sausage, and boerewors
• Prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damage to stock
• Check temperatures and maintain the cold chain for all meat products
• Provide courteous and professional service to customers
• Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene for equipment and utensils
• Assist with receiving meat from suppliers
• Train staff on new products and lines as needed

• Physically able to work in a cold environment and lift carcasses or containers of meat
• Competence in cutting, manufacturing, and producing various meat products such as loin chops and roasts (skills will be tested)

Requirements

• Grade 12
• Compliance with medical criteria required by the OHS Act for butchery
• Successful completion of numeracy screening assessments
