Casual Merchandiser Opportunity at Dis-Chem East Rand Mall

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking Casual Merchandisers for their new store at East Rand Mall in Boksburg, Gauteng. This part-time role is ideal for individuals looking to gain retail experience and be part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

The position aims to create a pre-screened talent pool of individuals with specific skills, qualifications, and attributes suitable for future opportunities within Dis-Chem Pharmacies.

Job Purpose:

• Ensure basic Dis-Chem merchandising standards are executed and maintained
• Provide excellent customer service and support store operations

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Up to 6 months’ retail experience
  • Computer literate, including MS Office
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
• Advantageous:
  • At least 1 year retail experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Restock merchandise to maximize sales
• Ensure stock from deliveries or storeroom is stored and packed correctly
• Monitor shelf stock for sell-by dates and ensure full product range availability
• Rotate stock regularly using FIFO (first in, first out) methods
• Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged or expired products to management
• Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking
• Adhere to store layout, planograms, and operating standards
• Maintain tidy shelves and displays, ensuring correct labels and pricing
• Build, face, stock, and maintain merchandising displays
• Keep storeroom and shop floor organized and clean
• Assist with loading, off-loading, and back shopping of stock
• Clearly mark items without barcodes
• Support the training of new staff
• Provide courteous and helpful assistance to customers
• Follow up on customer stock queries and out-of-stock requests
• Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses
• Comply with Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety regulations

  • Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry

  • Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking
  • Report suspicious behaviour among staff or customers
