Junior Grain Procurer Opportunity at VKB Grain Warden Region

VKB Group is hiring a Junior Grain Procurer for its VKB Grain division in the Warden region of the Eastern Free State. This permanent role focuses on grain procurement, Safex trading support, and client relationship management within the agricultural commodities environment. The position is designed for an entry-level professional who wants to build a career in grain trading, agricultural marketing, and commodity markets. You will work closely with producers and clients while supporting trading operations and market execution within a regulated JSE environment. Job Overview And Responsibilities

• Assist with the procurement of grain and execution of Safex trading activities
• Support clients with market information and grain marketing strategies
• Provide ongoing advice to producers on pricing, hedging, and trading decisions
• Update daily market data and ensure accurate reporting within required timeframes
• Conduct market reviews and share insights with producer groups and clients
• Support compliance with JSE trading rules and operational procedures
• Assist in minimising losses related to administrative and trading errors
• Contribute to the optimisation of broker functions within regulatory guidelines
• Stay updated on JSE hedging tools, standards, and commodity trading practices
• Support the development and distribution of marketing materials for clients
• Build and maintain strong client relationships within the grain supply chain
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve trading efficiency and client service
• Work closely with senior traders and analysts to support decision-making processes

Requirements And Skills

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification
• BCom Degree in Economics, Agriculture or related field advantageous
• Completed SAFEX APD exam advantageous
• Strong computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office
• Interest in grain markets, commodities, and agricultural trading
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Negotiation and client service skills
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
• Team oriented mindset with willingness to learn
• Strong attention to detail in data handling and reporting
• Basic understanding of financial or commodity markets advantageous
