Production Assistant Opportunity at Pick n Pay Moffet

This role is based in Moffet, Eastern Cape within a fast-paced retail production environment at Pick n Pay. The Production Assistant will be responsible for preparing, packaging and maintaining product standards according to company specifications. The position suits someone who is detail focused, physically active and comfortable working in a structured production setting. You will support daily production targets while ensuring hygiene, safety and quality standards are consistently met.

Job Overview

The Production Assistant is responsible for manufacturing, preparing and packaging products according to set standards and daily production requirements. You will work with perishable goods, including meat products, while ensuring quality control, correct pricing and proper labelling. The role requires strict attention to hygiene, temperature control and food safety standards. You will also assist with customer interaction, product handling and maintaining efficient workflow in the production area. This position demands accuracy, discipline and teamwork in a high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture, prepare and package products according to specifications and production targets
• Ensure correct pricing and labelling of all loose and random weight items
• Conduct regular quality checks on products and remove damaged or expired stock
• Maintain stock rotation principles to reduce wastage and shrinkage
• Monitor temperature controls and maintain cold chain standards
• Follow strict hygiene, safety and housekeeping procedures at all times
• Operate, clean and maintain production equipment according to standards
• Assist customers by providing product information and handling requests professionally
• Process customer orders accurately and according to service procedures
• Promote products and support sales activities where required
• Maintain effective communication with team members, supervisors and suppliers
• Adhere to security procedures and report any irregularities or risks
• Support general production and store duties as required

Requirements And Skills

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Must reside close to the store or be able to commute reliably
• Ability to handle physically demanding production work
• Experience in food production or butchery environment is an advantage
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to follow instructions and work within structured processes
• Strong communication skills in English
• Team player with a calm and patient approach
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and repetitive production environment
