This permanent role supports inventory control, warehouse accuracy, and stock management within a mining and metals environment. The position focuses on maintaining clean stock records, processing inventory transactions, and supporting efficient stores operations using Syspro and related systems.

Job Overview

The Stores Assistant is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory records and smooth stock movement across the warehouse system. You will process stock transactions, support GRN processing, and maintain proper documentation of all inventory activities. The role involves working closely with warehouse and operations teams to ensure stock accuracy, compliance, and efficient storage practices. You will also assist with stock audits, reconciliations, and reporting to support operational decision making. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work with structured inventory systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Process inventory transactions in Syspro including GRNs, stock transfers and adjustments
• Maintain accurate stock records and inventory data
• Monitor and resolve stock discrepancies and GRN issues
• Manage bin locations and conduct regular bin audits
• Prepare and maintain operational documentation and filing systems
• Generate inventory performance reports including accuracy and turnaround metrics
• Support weekly stock reconciliations and branch stock requests
• Participate in stock counts, audits and warehouse reporting activities
• Assist in maintaining compliance with warehouse procedures and standards
• Update store procedures and support quality management documentation
• Coordinate with teams on inventory movements and stock issues
• Support general warehouse and operational tasks as required

Requirements And Skills

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and English
• Tertiary qualification in Stock Control, Inventory Management or Supply Chain (advantageous)
• Basic computer literacy with Syspro experience considered an advantage
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational and administrative skills
• Strong communication and teamwork ability
• Ability to work in a structured warehouse environment
• Basic understanding of inventory control principles
• Ability to handle repetitive operational tasks with consistency
• Problem solving ability for stock discrepancies
• Reliable and disciplined work ethic
• Willingness to support operational needs as required
