AFI PRIVÉ curates and retails refined fashion and lifestyle brands that have a combination of globally relevant design, quality craftsmanship and authentic heritage, to an exclusive clientele. We operate various retail pop-ups and via our e-commerce site.

We are growing and looking to expand our team. As such we are seeking a talented individual to join our retail team as a Fashion Coordinator in our Johannesburg office. The Fashion Coordinator will play a key role within our team.  This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone that eventually wants to further their career in Merchandising, Retail Operations and Fashion Retail Buying.

Day-to-day responsibilities

The role will involve:

  • Assist with research and identification of brands
  • Responsible for management and daily correspondence with brands and evaluate their offerings.
  • Assist retail manager in monitoring and expediting flow of products, while ensuring prioritisation and timely processing of all incoming inventory
  • Attend to general brands issues effectively
  • Resolve all queries from designers and suppliers in a timely manner
  •  Develop relationships with vendors’ representatives
  • Communicate and follow up on all payment related issues to the finance team
  •  Provide product knowledge support to the retail manager
  • Brainstorm and assist in creating posts for social media as well as analysis of impact
  • Use artistic skills or computer-aided design packages or Adobe Creative Suite, to create visuals and plans;
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as media, shipping companies etc.
  • Other duties as called upon
  • Regularly monitor fashion publications and set meetings with designers to keep up with the changing trend
  • Evaluate the potential success of a certain clothing line

Essential skills and requirements

  • Degree in BA Fashion Design: Have an understanding of commercial fashion Subjects/Must have an understanding of fashion design
  • Experience in retail and e-commerce: Stocktaking/An understanding of Buying/Able to Merchandise/Able to deal with customers/Able to complete Orders
  • Knowledge of design software: Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, etc.

 

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Able to handle the stress of working within the fashion industry
  • Able to channel creativity into a new outlet
  • Able to take direction and activate as needed
  • Previous work as a stylist or assistant stylist will be a plus
  • Have great admin and organizational skills
  • Able to learn fast and not shy to ask questions
  • Excellent verbal and written skills specifically in regard to building relationships with suppliers and external contacts.
  • Numerate with strong computer literacy
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Proven ability to work to stringent deadlines
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to identify problems, demonstrate use of initiative and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Fully flexible, including weekends
