Job description

An online retail concern based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town is looking for a data scientist with numerate degree e.g. BCom, B Bus Sci, B Eng, BSc and minimum of five years previous experience as an analyst in a marketing or risk environment where three of these years was at a management level.

Drive sales revenue and improve spend efficiency

    • Develop and implement a list strategy and action plan to optimize opportunities and sales strengths.

 

    • Work with the marketing and risk analysts to identify the best customers and mailing strategy to maximise efficiency.

 

    • Build relationships with analysts/data providers and other partners.

 

    • Compile and create accurate presentations on a daily basis.

 

    • Coordinate workflow and communications with other team members.

 

    • Develop and implement strategy and action plan to retain growth commitment and existing client base.

      List development

 

    • Ensure effective workflow structures, systems, processes and practices are in place.

 

    • Continuously identify opportunities to improve the selection process.

 

    • Develop new customer segmentation and sign off with the business.

 

    • Make improvements to the current list model and customer lifecycle model.

 

    • Develop and implement a strategy to eliminate/minimise threats and weaknesses.

 

    • Receive, understand, analyse and make industry research available to relevant staff.

 

    • Develop and implement strategies to drive repurchase in active customers and efficiently reactivate inactive customers.

      Implementation of list and sales growth strategies

 

    • Forecast the number of new customers required to meet the group business’s growth aspirations.

 

    • Support the development of a strategy and action plan to acquire new customers.

 

    • Drive tele and mailing strategies to ensure retention and repurchase.

 

    • Ensure credit risk strategy is in line with and supports acquisition strategy.

 

    • Evaluate, compare and provide target market alternatives.

 

    • Managing, teaching and mentoring of entry-level employees.

      List analysis and reporting

 

    • Develop and track model to forecast the growth of customer segments in the short, medium and long term.

 

    • Supply the organisation with accurate, insightful list reports.

 

    • Identify, analyse and interpret trends in order to identify opportunities and threats.

 

    • Provide accurate post campaign analysis for management.

 

    • Audit and verify testing results.

 

    • Evaluate and analyse campaigns with the specific objective of accurate forecasting for the future.

 

    • Assist in identifying opportunities in competitive analysis.

 

    • Provide thorough list research, back end analysis and reporting.

      Management

 

    • Manage junior analysts, conducting bi-annual KPA and performance reviews.

 

    • Coach, mentor and develop analysts ensuring that they have a personal development plan.

Requirements:

    • A numerate degree e.g. BCom, B Bus Sci, B Eng, BSc.

 

    • Minimum of five years previous experience as an analyst in a marketing or risk environment where three of these years was at a management level.

 

    • Proven track record of integrating and interpreting numerical and statistical information.

 

    • Highly computer literate with strong PowerPoint and Excel skills at an advanced level.

 

    • SQL experience required.
