Dis-Chem Pharmacies at Eastgate in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, is offering a fixed-term contract position for a Dispensary Support role. This opportunity targets learners aiming to complete the basic pharmacist assistant course and register with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). Role Purpose

The Dispensary Support role is designed for entry-level candidates who want to build a career in pharmaceutical services. The position provides on-the-job learning covering key pharmaceutical tasks under pharmacist supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines
• Support preparation of non-sterile medicines following pharmacist-approved procedures
• Help unpack, merchandise stock, and maintain cleanliness in the dispensary and OTC areas
• Interpret prescriptions accurately and comply with SAPC regulations
• Pick, pack, label, and check medications while being aware of drug dosages and interactions
• Assist with stock control, including managing expiry dates and reporting shortages
• Handle call center scripts and patient service calls
• Support chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication authorizations
• Perform other duties assigned by the Dispensary Manager

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics (50%), Life Science or Physical Science, and an average of at least 50%
• Pass proficiency test for SAPC learner basic assistant registration
• South African citizenship
• Clean criminal and credit record

• Proficient in English and a second language (read, write, speak)
• Strong time management and attention to detail

• Professional, trustworthy, and accountable
• Basic computer and numerical skills

Advantageous Skills

• Experience in retail FMCG or Dis-Chem front shop
• Knowledge of drug family planning and complementary medicines
• Familiarity with Unisolv, SAP, and e-Scripting systems
