Job Overview
The Shelfpacker role is hands-on and physically demanding. You will be responsible for keeping shelves stocked, maintaining store presentation, and ensuring compliance with company standards. The position requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with General Merchandise standards and operational plans
- Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and safety in both shop floor and backroom areas
- Follow all store security procedures
- Adhere to merchandising and display standards
- Conduct regular quality checks, rotate stock, and remove expired or damaged items
- Prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damage
- Check and confirm pricing labels are correct
- Assist customers by providing product advice, listening to requests, and offering professional service
- Demonstrate urgency in completing daily tasks efficiently
- Maintain a high level of consistency and quality in routine tasks
- Be flexible and willing to work across different areas as needed
Skills and Competencies
- Strong customer service mindset
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to work shifts to meet operational needs
- Flexibility to be transferred between stores if required

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 qualification (Grade 12 is an advantage)
- 2 to 3 years of retail experience preferred
- Must reside near Pick n Pay Norwood Hyper
- Must hold a valid South African ID (attach copy to application)
- Willingness to undergo credit and criminal checks
- Must successfully complete competency-based interviews and assessments
