Pharmacist Assistant PBQ Opportunity at Dis-Chem York Street

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistant for their York Street store in George, Western Cape. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines and scheduled substances
• Support the compounding, manipulation, preparation, and re-packaging of non-sterile medicines according to pharmacist-approved procedures
• Assist in stock distribution, control, and ordering of medicines up to Schedule 6
• Accurately interpret prescriptions and capture patient and script details on the system
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication usage and health advice
• Ensure all medications are checked and signed by a pharmacist
• Process medical aid claims and correct rejected scripts
• Maintain and update customer profiles and follow up on script tracking
• Report stock levels, receive dispensary stock, and facilitate bi-annual stock takes
• Exercise stock, cash, and asset control in compliance with SOPs and legal requirements

Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
• Experience working with Unisolv and computer literacy in MS Office
• Strong numerical skills and proficiency in English and a second language
• Willingness to work retail hours and physically able to stand for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license, clear credit, and criminal records

Advantageous Skills:

• Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations
• Third additional language
• Experience with SAP and E-Scripting
• Knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine
