HWSETA is offering a Human Resources Intern position within its Corporate Services division in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This 24 month contract role is designed for candidates who want practical experience in human resources within a structured public sector environment. The internship focuses on recruitment support, employee engagement, HR administration, and data management.

Job Overview

The Human Resources Intern will support the HR department with daily operational and administrative tasks. You will gain hands on exposure to recruitment processes, onboarding procedures, employee record management, and HR reporting. The role provides structured learning in core HR functions and helps build a strong foundation for a career in human resources management.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment processes including CV screening and interview scheduling
• Coordinate communication with candidates during hiring processes
• Support onboarding and induction of new employees
• Prepare orientation materials and training schedules
• Maintain and update employee records in HR systems
• Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of HR data
• Assist with employee engagement surveys and internal events
• Support analysis of engagement feedback and reporting
• Conduct HR research and assist with report preparation
• Support HR administrative tasks including filing and document control
• Assist with internal HR projects and process improvements
• Respond to basic employee HR related queries
• Provide general administrative support to the HR team

Requirements And Skills

• Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
• Previous internship or administrative experience is an advantage
• Strong communication skills in written and verbal form
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and multitasking ability
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
• Basic understanding of HR processes is beneficial
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a structured environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of South African labour legislation
• Exposure to employee relations or talent acquisition coursework
• Familiarity with HR reporting or analytics tools
• Participation in HR related student activities or associations
