Stunning Jozi-based International agency’s digital division is looking for a new creative director to shake things up! We’re looking for someone who will be wholly accountable for the performance of their entire team – someone who can assume a mentorship role to grow junior, mid-weight and senior designers. You will work with a creative team of designers, copywriters and production studio. You will be able to balance creative thinking with interpersonal skills and demonstrate an ability to work with the team to successfully create the concepts to visual expression. You are able to inspire and provide mentorship in all areas of production (visual, copy, interaction design, production).  You will lead the team through multiple on-going timelines, you’re self-motivated with a positive attitude, and communicate easily. Overall, you’re a fresh thinker who embraces challenges as well as new methods of thinking.

Responsibilities
Your duties will include:

  • Lead, grow and mentor a team with clear communication, feedback and expectations.
  • Inspire and create a pro-active energetic team
  • Provide clear decision-making in crisis situations.
  • Provide agile and thought-through solutions.
  • Proofread, review and QA work.
  • Offer constructive criticism.
  • Help define a creative vision or strategy (innovation and evolution).
  • Manage creative outputs.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of all CI requirements and digital collateral elements.
  • Be aware of all projects in production.
  • Conduct brainstorms and ideation activities to conceptualise campaigns with the team(s) involved
  • Translate the brief & the strategic requirements into a compelling creative solution.
  • Direct the creative- and design paradigm.
  • Review and vet work before the ECD reviews it.
  • Assist in the planning of a project by: Defining production requirements, best approach, timings, content procurement lists etc.
  • Work and manage outputs according to a project plan.
  • Troubleshoot and propose countermeasures or solutions as required.
  • Present concepts and work to clients.
  • Motivate for rationales and best practices.
  • Responsible for assigning projects and creating design solutions that meet requirements outlined in the creative brief.
  • Develop and communicate industry-leading creative concepts.
  • Balance strategic development with client business objectives.
  • Directly contribute to project design and development.
  • Create comps, storyboards, initial graphic concepts along with final deliverables as and when required.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with writers and production artists ensuring visual design communicates the desired message.
