YOUTH ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE PROGRAM- Free State/Masilonyana 2019 Applications

WESSA, in partnership with the National Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) invites applications from unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 35 for the 2019 Youth Environmental Service Programme.

This is a year long learnership programme that will expose those selected to be mentored work- integrated learning opportunities, accredited Environmental Practices Skills training, and selected non accredited training courses.

This learnership program is designed to be used as a stepping stone to employment and study opportunities. Preference will be given to woman an d disabled people.

Requirements

  • Have successfully completed Grade 12 or equivalent with a Natural Science as a matric subject, with preference for tertiary graduates
  • Fluent in English or Afrikaans
  • Be passionate about protecting the environment and be able to demonstrate some level of interest in working in the environmental sector
  • Have had some experience as a volunteer
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Be willing to work at hosts and offer community services in their immediate areas
  • Not have a schedule 1 criminal record
  • Be a South African citizen with a valid ID book
  • Be willing to commit to a full time programme from 18 March 2019 to 13 March 2020
  • Have a valid bank account in their own name
  • Resides in one of the following ares: Brandfort, Theunissen, Verkeerdevlei, Winburg
