Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a Frontshop Assistant for its Boardwalk Mall store in Summerstrand, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. This fixed-term role is suited to individuals interested in retail, customer service, and pharmaceutical sales. Role Overview
The Frontshop Assistant ensures merchandise is correctly displayed, fully stocked, and easily accessible to customers. You will support customer service at the point of sale, maintain stock integrity, and assist with store operations according to Dis-Chem policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain shelves fully stocked with neatly presented products.
- Check expiry dates and remove out-of-date stock.
- Assist with merchandise restocking and back shopping as required.
- Handle customer out-of-stock queries and ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure accurate pricing, correct labels, and proper merchandise displays.
- Organize the storeroom and maintain overall store cleanliness.
- Process purchases, including cash, card, vouchers, and loyalty points.
- Manage exchanges and returns according to company policy.
- Assist with stock counting, general stocktaking, and reporting damaged or expired stock.
- Support loading and off-loading of stock when needed.
- Uphold high standards of customer service, professional interaction, and courtesy.
- Train new team members and assist colleagues as required.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, company policies, and uniform standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate required.
- 0–6 months retail experience required; one year is advantageous.
- Certification in Retail Business Management is beneficial.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of retail operations and administration.
- Ability to solve problems and escalate issues appropriately.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Clear verbal communication and responsiveness to customer inquiries.
- Responsibility for work quality and efficiency.
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with SAP is advantageous.
