Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Cashier position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Excellent command of the English language (written and oral)
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier at Dis-Chem Sea Point, your daily duties will include:
Customer Service
- Adhering to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
- Establishing professional relationships with customers
- Reporting customer complaints and compliments to store management
- Staying aware of current sales and promotions
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Processing cash, card payments, vouchers, coupons, and other forms of payment
- Handling loyalty cards (including Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks)
- Managing cash flow securely, placing cash in drop safes per company SOPs
- Processing exchanges and refunds when authorised
- Ensuring all outgoing stock and scripts are scanned and paid for
- Maintaining till security and confidentiality of daily takings
Risk Management
- Being alert to and reporting any suspicious behaviour
- Adhering to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
- Ensuring all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off
Operational Excellence
- Carrying out Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
- Ensuring colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risk
- Addressing customer queries regarding store merchandise

- Knowledge of processing sales, refunds, and payments

Advantageous:
- Ability to speak a third additional language
