Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the Cashier position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Strong numerical skills
• Excellent command of the English language (written and oral)
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

As a Cashier at Dis-Chem Sea Point, your daily duties will include:

Customer Service

• Adhering to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
• Establishing professional relationships with customers
• Reporting customer complaints and compliments to store management
• Staying aware of current sales and promotions

Cash Handling & Transactions

• Processing cash, card payments, vouchers, coupons, and other forms of payment
• Handling loyalty cards (including Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks)
• Managing cash flow securely, placing cash in drop safes per company SOPs
• Processing exchanges and refunds when authorised
• Ensuring all outgoing stock and scripts are scanned and paid for
• Maintaining till security and confidentiality of daily takings

Risk Management

• Being alert to and reporting any suspicious behaviour
• Adhering to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
• Ensuring all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off

Operational Excellence

• Carrying out Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
• Ensuring colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risk
• Addressing customer queries regarding store merchandise

• In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers
• Knowledge of processing sales, refunds, and payments

Advantageous:

• Ability to speak a third additional language
