Job Description

As a Cashier, your primary responsibilities will include:

Customer Service and Transactions

• Adhering to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
• Establishing professional relationships with customers
• Handling customer complaints and compliments, reporting to supervisors as required
• Being aware of current sales and promotions
• Processing all forms of payments (cash, cards, vouchers, loyalty programs)
• Ensuring customer queries regarding merchandise are handled efficiently

Operational Excellence

• Maintaining accurate cash flow management
• Processing loyalty cards, including partner programs
• Securing all cash and ensuring drop safe procedures are followed
• Ensuring that all merchandise leaving the store is correctly scanned and paid for
• Managing daily takings confidentially

Risk Management and Security

• Reporting suspicious behaviour to store management
• Adhering to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
• Ensuring that all voids and price changes are correctly authorised

Required Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Strong knowledge of operating cash registers
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Good problem-solving skills
• Accountability and honesty
• Excellent time management
• Presentable appearance and good social awareness
• High emotional intelligence

An additional third language will be advantageous.
