Young Professional-in-Training (Health & Safety) – Transnet, Johannesburg

Transnet Corporate Centre and Academy is inviting recent graduates to apply for its Young Professional-in-Training (Health & Safety) programme. This structured two-year programme provides practical workplace experience combined with learning and mentoring opportunities.

Position Purpose

The programme is designed for dynamic graduates to gain exposure to Health & Safety operations within a corporate environment. You will participate in structured learning, shadow experienced staff, and contribute to organizational projects to develop professional competence.

Key Responsibilities

• Shadow staff and participate in meetings, workshops, and learning experiences.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, ensuring their needs and urgency levels are understood.
• Provide timely responses to queries and updates on progress.
• Support administrative tasks, research, and general assistance.
• Take instructions from Mentors and Specialists to structure work and deliverables.
• Execute project tasks efficiently, both individually and collaboratively.
• Produce high-quality outputs that contribute to project solutions for clients.

Qualifications and Experience

• National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, or related field.
• 0–1 year of relevant work experience.
• South African citizen.
• Age between 18 and 35 years.

Competencies

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
