Role Overview

The Sales Assistant is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, supporting inventory management, assisting with store operations, and maintaining merchandising standards. The position requires a proactive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work flexible shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Acknowledge every customer within 30 seconds.
  • Deliver excellent customer service following Birkenstock procedures.
  • Identify customer needs and demonstrate product benefits.
  • Close sales and secure add-on purchases.
  • Encourage repeat business by turning customers into loyal Birkenstock fans.
  • Monitor daily sales against individual targets.

Inventory Management

  • Replenish footwear, apparel, and accessories from the storeroom daily.
  • Minimize shrinkage by monitoring the store, acknowledging customers, and following changing room policies.
  • Ensure POS system stock entries are accurate.
  • Process deliveries, checking quantities, invoices, tagging, pricing, and recording in the POS system.
  • Handle customer orders efficiently.

Daily Operations

  • Maintain store cleanliness, including dusting, cleaning mirrors, vacuuming, emptying bins, and tidying change rooms.
  • Assist the manager with store opening and closing procedures.

Training & Development

  • Take responsibility for personal training and learning from assigned buddies.
  • Attend quarterly training sessions and complete assessments.
  • Receive monthly feedback from the manager and discuss progress in monthly meetings.
  • Follow the Birkenstock rookie pack to determine eligibility for promotions.

Merchandising

  • Maintain stock presentation according to Birkenstock standards.
  • Ensure correct sizes are replenished.
  • Assist with changing store windows and mannequins every fortnight.
  • Properly store POS materials to prevent damage.

Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum six months of customer service experience.
  • Birkenstock knowledge is advantageous.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts.
