Programme Overview
The MasterCut Programme is more than an internship. It is a structured Apprentice to Artisan pathway that equips participants with practical butchery skills while building confidence, professionalism, and career readiness. Participants will become trained Pick n Pay Meat Artisans, learning all aspects of meat preparation, handling, and customer engagement.
Who We Are Looking For
The programme targets motivated, physically strong candidates who are ready for hands-on learning.
Requirements include:
- South African youth aged 18–34
- Hardy, determined, and ready for challenges
- Comfortable working on your feet in cold environments
- Passionate about food and eager to learn
- Cool, calm, and focused under pressure

What You Will Learn
Participants in the MasterCut Programme will gain expertise in:
- Meat Mastery: Cutting, trimming, portioning, and preparing various meats, including cold cuts and sausages
- Packaging & Display: Weighing, wrapping, and presenting products professionally
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintaining cleanliness, following safety procedures, and handling tools properly
- Operations Flow: Stocking, floor management, and operating equipment like band saws
- Customer Service: Guiding customers and providing expert advice at the counter
