DATAFIN RECRUITMENT:Fashion Buyer Opportunity
Environment:
An online retail company in Cape Town is looking for a fashion buyer with five years fashion experience with a minimum three years as a fully-fledged buyer and tertiary degree – ideally from a fashion graduate school.
Duties:
- Procure, nurture and maintain relationships with suppliers, both locally and internationally, in the apparel, accessories and footwear industries.
- Identify new and on trend brands and products within the world of fashion to be featured on the company’s web page.
- Trend forecasting and analysis.
- Develop, execute and monitor merchandise strategy.
- Establish buying plans and strategies that will maximize sales margin and profit.
- Conduct strategic seasonal range reviews and comp shops, and apply learning to your buy.
- Develop and present balanced ranges and align assortments to projected targets.
- Negotiate the best prices, terms and delivery agreements with suppliers.
- Ensure source of supply meets business requirements.
- Analyse product performance and react to trading conditions.
- Ability to plan and style visual merch briefs together with content and creative.
- Work together with creative to ensure product is merchandised online in accordance with guidelines and in a manner that appeal to the customer.
- Manage the purchase order process.
- Manage and mentor junior buyer.
Requirements:
- Five years fashion experience with a minimum three years as a fully-fledged buyer.
- On trend, a taste for style, local and up to date industry knowledge is a must!
- A strategic thinker with excellent numeracy and analytic skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organized with good time management skills.
- A master negotiator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Well presented, confident, assertive and determined.
- Problem solver and solutions driven.
- Ability to lead, guide and mentor a team to achieve KPI’s.
- Entrepreneurial with a trader mentality.
- A fashion influencer within the community.
- Systems savvy – must have completed minimum level 2 Excel training.
- Mobile – car, motorbike.
- Tertiary degree – ideally from a fashion graduate school.
- WGSN experience beneficial.
