Position Overview

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Up to 6 months of retail experience
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office)
  • Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays

Candidates with at least 1 year of retail experience will have an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes a range of duties to support daily store operations:

  • Restocking shelves promptly to maximize sales
  • Correctly storing and packing delivered stock from the storeroom
  • Ensuring no expired products remain on shelves
  • Maintaining full product ranges on shelves
  • Facilitating regular stock rotation using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles
  • Reporting low stock levels, damages, and expired items to management
  • Assisting with stock counts and general stocktaking processes
  • Adhering to store layout plans and merchandising standards
  • Ensuring shelves and products are neatly displayed and properly labeled
  • Reporting any pricing discrepancies
  • Staying informed about current and new products
  • Maintaining clean and organized merchandise displays
  • Assisting with loading and off-loading stock deliveries
  • Marking any products that don’t have barcodes
  • Providing back shopping support
  • Helping with training of new staff members
  • Offering professional, friendly, and helpful customer service at all times
  • Addressing and resolving customer stock queries
  • Wearing the correct uniform and staff badge at all times
  • Minimizing stock losses through careful product handling
  • Following all Dis-Chem policies, operating procedures, and health and safety regulations
