Key Responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to maximise product availability and sales.
• Ensure all delivered stock and stock from the storeroom is packed and stored in the correct location.
• Check that products on shelves have not reached their sell-by dates.
• Ensure the full product range is available on shelves at all times.
• Rotate stock regularly using the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle.
• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged products, and expired stock to management.
• Assist with stock counts, stock files, and general stocktaking activities.
• Follow Dis-Chem merchandising standards, store layouts, and planograms.
• Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and move them to the designated area.
• Ensure shelves are neat, fully stocked, correctly labelled, and accurately priced.
• Report pricing discrepancies to management.
• Stay informed about current and newly introduced products.
• Build, maintain, and replenish merchandising displays.
• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the shop floor and assigned storeroom areas.
• Assist with loading and off-loading stock.
• Clearly mark products without barcodes.
• Assist with back shopping activities.
• Support the training of new employees when required.
• Deliver friendly, professional, and helpful customer service.
• Follow up on customer out-of-stock enquiries using the customer service out-of-stock list.
• Resolve customer stock-related queries efficiently.
• Wear the correct company uniform and identification badge at all times.
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses.
• Adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and health and safety regulations.

Requirements and Skills

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Up to 6 months of retail experience.
• Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office.
• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• At least 1 year of retail experience will be advantageous.
• Strong command of the English language.
• Presentable appearance and professional attitude.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, management, and colleagues.
• Trustworthy, honest, and dependable.
• Good time management skills.
• Bilingual ability will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry will be beneficial.
• Product and category knowledge is advantageous.
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for stock ordering and stocktaking.
• Ability to identify and report suspicious behaviour involving customers or staff.
• Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy boxes safely.
• Reliable transport or residence close to the store.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear credit and criminal record.
