Position Overview
As a Merchandiser at Dis-Chem, your primary role will be to ensure that shelves are well-stocked, displays are appealing, and customer service standards are consistently high. This is an entry-level position, but it plays a crucial part in the customer’s shopping experience — ensuring that every visit to the store is smooth, efficient, and satisfying.

Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate
- Up to 6 months of retail experience
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Willing and able to work flexible retail hours
Advantageous:
- 1 year of previous retail or merchandising experience
Key Responsibilities
- Restock shelves regularly to ensure product availability
- Organize incoming stock from storerooms and place it correctly
- Monitor and rotate stock to prevent expiry or damage
- Report low stock, damages, or missing items to management
- Assist with stock counts, audits, and general inventory tasks
- Follow all store layouts, planograms, and merchandising guidelines
- Flatten packaging and dispose of it appropriately after unpacking
- Maintain clean, clear, and properly labeled shelf displays
- Assist with loading and off-loading stock deliveries
- Stay informed about new products and promotions
- Help train new staff and guide them on in-store practices
- Offer friendly, informed customer support and advice
- Address out-of-stock inquiries and ensure customer satisfaction
- Comply with health, safety, and store operational procedures
Desired Competencies
- Fluent in English (additional languages are an advantage)
- Presentable and professional appearance
- Effective interpersonal communication
- Honest, trustworthy, and dependable
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with FMCG industry and merchandising standards
- Ability to interpret basic stock reports (ZMORE system)

- Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items
- Must have reliable transport or live near the Ferndale store
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Clear credit and criminal record
- South African citizenship required
